SAN VICENTE´S MAIN PLAZA

San Vicente, located in the very nearby state of Nayarit, is situated in the municipality of the Bay of Banderas.   Approximately a 45-minute drive northeast of Puerto Vallarta, the town is small and quiet and clean.  Puerto Vallarta, with its charming and challenging cobblestone streets and picturesque tile roofs, is surrounded by natural beauty, including a 40-mile horseshoe-shaped bay, the tiny Marieta islands,  deep jungles and seven rivers. Much more education and enforced anti-littering laws are needed before the rivers and beaches and streets are better cared for.
LINE AT CLINC AT SALÓN EJIDAL IN SAN VICENTE
The space at Salón Ejidal was great and distributions of flyers by volunteers aided in the high turn-out for a three day clinic.  The salon was unfortunately not available on Saturday for our use.

ADOPTIONS:  "Rommel," the Belgian Shepherd rescued on the street in colonia Ramblases by Paulina.  Serendipity.  As I was driving to Costco, I  noticed an attractive young man sitting on the sidewalk with a young Belgian Shepherd.  I stopped my car to ask if he would like to have his female dog spayed.  "Yes."  Then I asked if he would like another Belgian Shepherd.  "Maybe."  I gave him my card, he emailed and then arranged to meet with Paulina and Rommel.   Emiliano Luna brought his mother and younger brother, whom Paulina said were all very savvy about dogs and loved Rommel.  PEACEAnimals will be spaying Emiliano´s female dog.  The female Belgian Shepherd that Paulina also rescued still needs a home.  Contact Paulina if interested:  infopeaceanimals@gmail.com

RESCUED AND FOR ADOPTION: "Cabezón," the large dog I saw on the street in el Tuito and drove to our mobile clinic there.  His right ear had been chopped off with a machete for someone´s amusement and one of his paws had been run over while he was resting in the street.  Cabezón´s food and vet costs are being paid for,  and Saashi Rodriguez is fostering him until he can be moved over to Rancho Primavera for more fostering next month.
"CABEZON" IN HIS NEW FOSTER HOME
Saashi reports that he is highly intelligent, very affectionate, well behaved, stands still for a bath and does his "business" at the back of the property.  If interested in meeting or adopting this noble dog, please contact: saashi700@yahoo.com

NAME THIS HOUND!   Saashi thinks Cabezón ("Big Head") is mostly a Blood Hound and needs a more dignified name. Pamela Evans suggested there be a "NAME THE HOUND"  contest.  Involved parties to the rescue will be the judges. Prize for the winning name will be two lunches at the gorgeous Rancho Primavera.    Winner will be announced August  31st.  Please submit names to: gretchen@peaceanimals.org.

A five-year old male Chow Chow was rescued by Paulina Stettner outside Costco on Thursday afternoon. Paulina took him to be shaved, dewormed and tested for disease.  None present.

"VALENTINA" WITH HER ONE-DAY OLD FOAL
A BIRTH AT RANCHO PRIMAVERA:  Bonnie Jauregui, co-owner of Rancho Primavera, e-mailed me Thursday morning to say that a foal had been born late Wednesday night.   Valentina, named because she was born on February 14th, gave birth to her beautiful son in the same grove where she was born twelve years ago.  Although all of the male horses on Rancho Primavera are geldings, a stallion living on a nearby ranch broke down a fence in order to enjoy a brief romance with the lovely Valentina.
